Contingency Plan

This contingency plan is to ensure production can still go ahead incase of any unforeseen circumstances. This is to create precautions for said unforeseen circumstances, Budget issues: In a case of a situation such as a location owner pulling out and not allowing us to use it for our production or any accidental damage to equipment. An additional sum of £2500 has been added to the final budget. This prevents us from having to use more money than planned on certain aspects of the production, forcing us to lessen the amount available to spend on other thing, in turn lowering the quality of the production. In the case of rain or bad weather whilst filming our outside shoot we will hire out the location for longer than we necessarily need and even further, in case of weather worsening, we will hire out a different area of Bristol with a shelter to prevent damage. This should cost the same as the original location as it fits under the location types that the local council hires out. In the

Evaluation

The task I was given for this unit was to develop strong ideas and plan for a series of videos with an interlinked visual style and narrative focus. This task was given by the company fruit bowl tech and was to promote the release of their new app, aimed at 24-60 year olds fitting in the social class of ABC-1 and the psychographics of explorers, aspirers and mainstreamers. One of my tasks was to develop my video ideas and plan to appeal to the personalities of these demographics and psychographics whilst conveying the family focus the app has. This is in order to increase the sign ups to the app. The success of the video would've been measured by the amount of sign ups to the app. To begin, my initial idea was to create a short video showing a story of an engaged couple trying to find ways to reconnect with family members and end up discovering family members they were unaware they had. As the project went on, a number of variables such as client feedback and research helped me co

First I started with looking for the average salary /hour for actors/actresses. Most pages I found including payscale and talent.com state that the average hourly wage for an actor/ actress is £11 per hour. However I also decided to look further into the casting of actors so as I could be sure we hired professionals only that would help produce the quality of content we wish to achieve in our video. I have decided to find my main 4 actors/actresses on  https://www.mandy.com  because it presents you with the ability to broaden your search to age, location and key words. When clicking on a chosen actor or actress, you are shown a list of their past productions, any reviews of their acting skills, what type of project they are looking for and many other details.  I have decided to pay my actors £16 per hour due to the higher amount of pay is more likely to allow us to hire more experienced and professional actors/actresses. I will be hiring the main 2 actors for a maximum of 18 hours, in

Final Budget Summary

Crew: £1524 Equipment: £1387.15 Cast:£860 Location: £625 Additional incase unforeseen circumstances: £2500 Final Budget required: £6896.15 Above you will find the final budget created for this production. This was created after careful and detailed research into all the different elements of the production that will require payment. I have added an additional sum of money to the budget as a precaution for any unforseen circumstances such as weather damage to equipment or locations becoming unavailable.  I am happy with the outcome of my final budget as not only does it fit with the rough budget the client and I agreed upon, but it sits considerably lower as well. This is an advantage as if for some unknown reason we were to be forced to go over budget, we would still be more than likely able to fit within the original rough budget of £8250.

cinematographer/cameraman For my research into how much a professional cinematographer would cost us i went to a variety of websites and pages, looking into average hourly pay a professional cinematographer would earn. According to  https://www.payscale.com  , the average base hourly rate for a cinematographer is £21 /hour. But then I also found from the same site that the average cameraman earns £40 /hour. This is a sign to me that we want a cinematographer specifically because after doing some research to create a distinction between the two, it became clear to me that cinematographers are typically higher level professionals. https://www.pocketpence.co.uk  states that the average hourly wage is £15.50. After looking into the averages of hourly wages, I also realised it would not be smart to pay them the minimum we can because not only will this effect how professional and trustworthy of a cinematographer we can get, but this is also morally not the best route of action in my opini

Cameras: I have decided due to the nature of some of the shots I will be filming, I want to use two cameras for this production. I also decided it would be best to hire two of the same camera so as to get an equal level of quality for the video. I decided to look into hiring these cameras and went to   https://www.hireacamera.com  . Whilst searching through the different types of cameras and reviewing their quality and rental prices I found the  Canon   EOS C300 Mark II, this camera costs £410.40 including VAT per 3 day basis due to needing two of these cameras, this would cost us £820.80 for the 3 days Lighting: For lighting, I have decided to go with a portable option, allowing for fast, do-able transportation, I preferably want a lighting kit with colour filters to enhance the party scene towards the end of the video. Due to this i went to the same website as i used for finding a camera and found the  Rotolight   NEO II 3 LIGHT EXPLORER KIT, this kit costs £105.60 for 3 days of hir

Legal and ethical documents needed

Health and Safety Documentation Employment legislation is in place to ensure safety of both employers and employees from unsafe working conditions. To ensure the safety of everyone involved as well as avoiding a lawsuit (a lawsuit could end in fines, coming out of the budget and lowering the money allowed on the production itself), certain precautions must be put in place so as to follow the health and safety act of 1974, to make the appropriate precautions, a risk assessment must be made. Permission Documentation for Locations For the locations I am using, I will have to get in touch with the local councils and pay a filming fee, I will be doing this through  filmbristol.co.uk . Release Forms A talent release form gives the film maker permission to distribute and/or sell their video with the consent of the talent within the video. This is essential in order to prevent any lawsuits from talent that decide they no longer wish to be associated with said video. A personal release form g

Park setting: Due to this part of the production being a public park, we will need to reach out to the council of that area and request permission to film here, more often than not there will be a fee to film which must be taken into the budget of £8500. Bristol St Andrews Park: Pros - Large open space, allowing for easier movement and transportation of equipment - well kept as wanted, fits with the concept -Terrain looks mostly flat which further eases any transportation difficultuies -Nearby to locations that could be used in second setting -Large amount of greenery which fits the colour scheme Cons -Popular park so would have to block off access to the public - Not as many flower beds as hoped for so the aesthetic is slightly reduced - Is quite a way away so accommodation would have to be considered cost: £350 Coombe Abbey Coventry  Pros: -Beautiful location near water and vegetation - Relatively flat ground -Not very expensive to film -very large park with different areas to film

Ideas with rough budget

Image
Due to client feedback, I have decided to use idea 2 to promote the client product, this is because it incorporates the client ethos and general message wished to convey much better. I have altered the original idea for it above to further incorporate family past into the promotion (I have added a section with a viking and a victorian dancing) due to client request.

Client communication

Initial Client briefing In this meeting we went over the brief with the client, being informed on what the task was, who we were making it for, reputation, messages conveyed and demographics/psychographics we were to appeal to with our video promotion. A video of the meeting is attached bellow to show evidence: Idea pitch In this meeting we, as a focus group, each individually presented our ideas with a basic budget to the client, receiving feedback from client and the rest of the group.  The feedback I received was to follow up with my second idea but to incorporate more family past as well as reconnecting with current family. The client along with the group liked the dialogue "I didn't know you had so much family".  I followed up with this advice, further enhancing my first idea by incorporating contact with family ancestors and connections being made through that. I kept the line of dialogue that was well received. I have. attached a video of the meeting to provide e
