Carol Vernallis - The kindest cut

 Carol Vernallis' theory revolves around four different concepts, being narrative, diegesis, camera movement and framing and editing. Narrative Vernallis states that a music video is the visual response to a song and its lyrics and therefore the video should support the lyrical meaning along with the music. However, the artist should still remain consistently present. This is to allow the audience to feel closer to the artist, along with identify with the music, this in theory leads to the artist gaining support from new fans. Music videos can, but are not limited to being balanced between narrative and performance, the video can be mostly performance or narrative and still convey a strong meaning whilst appealing to the audience. Schedule

  Due to me having issues with excel, I have made a listed time schedule rather than a gantt chart, here i have listed all of the tasks I need to. get done, when I should start them and when they should be finished by. Bellow you will find a brief evaluation of how well I followed it. Throughout this project I have completed all of the production tasks on time, however, If I could change anything I would give myself more time to reshoot as I have some footage I wish I could change but could not because of poor weather conditions. I, however didn't complete any of the evaluation by my planned finish date due to organisation problems, next time I would to improve, create a gantt chart so I can more effectively manage my time.

My Film Plan

  Jaques Lacan Key words/Phrases to focus attention on when filming: -Lack of fulfilment -Mirror My main idea My idea is to convey body dysphoria that is experienced by a transgender person. This links to Lacans theory because my characters fantasy of what they wish they could look like feels un-achievable, and due to this they will always feel a lack of fulfilment. I will be conveying this by starting with multiple different shots of the protagonist still looking feminine, wearing makeup and a dress, I will use a variety of shot types to convey their discomfort as the video continues. The protagonist will be shown distressed and taking their make up off, making their hair more "boyish" and changing into less feminine clothes. Even after this character has shown themselves attempting to appear more masculine, they will be shown to feel a lack of fulfilment through showing their maladaptive habits such as smoking and drinking.
